Historique :	Cet autel et ce retable proviennent de l'ancienne collégiale Saint-Maxe du château de Bar. En 1790, le tombeau du comte de Bar Henri IV, mort en 1344, et de son épouse Yolande de Flandre, décédée en 1395, fut enlevé de Saint-Maxe et rétabli à la collégiale Saint-Pierre. Il fut décidé alors d'y placer le squelette fait par Ligier Richier. Mais en 1793, alors que ce dernier fut à peu près épargné, les deux gisants furent totalement détruits. Cet autel est l'un des rares vestiges survivant de la splendeur de la collégiale du château de Bar détruit à la Révolution.
