Description :	Ce mortier est de type Minenwerfer léger, modèle de 1916, calibre 76 mm. Il existe deux versions, une version 'tranchée' (cf Nixéville) pour le tir courbe sur une plate forme et une version 'd'accompagnement' pour le tir tendu (tir plus précis, augmentation de la portée) sur un affût spécial avec roues et bêche.

Historique :	Les Minenwerfer allemands ont tenu une place importante dans l'armée allemande. Celle-ci eut l'idée de construire une arme capable de lancer des projectiles à charge explosive durant la guerre russo-japonaise de 1904. La firme allemande Rheinmetall de Düsseldorf put mettre au point dès 1911 un premier Minenwerfer d'un calibre de 250 mm. Il pouvait envoyer un projectile de 120 kg à 300 m. Les mortiers allemands légers furent utilisés aussi bien dans la guerre de position que dans les attaques d'infanterie en tous terrains. Montés sur affût à roues et très mobiles, ils servirent aussi contre les chars et même les avions alliés qui volaient à basse altitude. Enfin, les Minenwerfer servirent aussi de moyens de communication, ils lancaient des projectiles porte-message par exemple de bataillon à régiment.
