Précision_sur la representation :	Le saint est agenouillé, devant lui sont déposées des mitres et une crosse. En haut, la Vierge à l'Enfant apparaît dans les nuées. A l'arrière-plan, deux scènes de la vie de saint Bernard sont représentées : saint Bernard célébrant une messe en souvenir du défunt cardinal Albéric en 1198 et, à gauche le Christ se détachant de sa croix pour accueillir saint Bernard. Saint Bernard était un ami du cardinal Albéric, évêque d'Ostie et conseiller du pape Eugène III. Ce dernier mourut alors qu'il était en route pour le concile de Reims. Durant la messe qu'il célébra à la mémoire d'Albéric, saint Bernard eut la vision de la félicité de ce dernier et remplaça la prière pour un défunt par celle pour un saint confesseur.
